HIGH ART, HIGH LOVE, HIGH QUALITY MEDICINE.  A CUTTING EDGE ART GALLERY opens up in Venice Beach with Light Paintings of Psychedelic Pioneers by Dean Chamberlain.

Breaking away from the typical gallery model, "99 High Art Collective" will open its doors on July 3rd 2009, not only as a high art gallery but also as a Medicinal Cannabis dispensary with world renowned artists and according to their proprietor and patients, "...very high quality art, love and organic medicine".

On hip and historic Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach, CA. “ 99 High Art Collective” is being described by local Westside Artists, Hipsters and Cannabistas as “…the cutting edge of culture”.

“ The 99 High Art Collective is honored to align itself with great luminaries in art, society and health.  99 is a "High" art gallery and dispensary bringing together healing medicine, world class art and music into a collective of like minded individuals.”  says co-proprietor Sam.

The premiere exhibit for the “99” grand opening will be “Portraits of Psychedelic Pioneers” by renowned Venice Beach artist, Dean Chamberlain. Discoverer of “ Light Painting” a method of using a highly original technique, which includes radically extended exposure times (up to 5 hours).  The artist "paints" the light onto each element in the frame, methodically and delicately illuminating the composition inch by inch.

Dean explains, “ These light paintings are about the spirit of psychedelic pioneers and their courage to explore frontiers of inner experience. These pioneers have traveled inside themselves and returned to affirm their reverence for life and the core of unity we all share. They have brought back invaluable insights on subjects including spirituality, science, arts, psychology, philosophy, meditation, sociology, technology and the environment.  Their insights serve as guiding lights on my path of consciousness exploration. This project remains alive as I continue to portray people who have dedicated their lives to consciousness exploration.”

The Dean Chamberlain exhibit will run for three months and features light paintings of psychedelic pioneers including, Timothy Leary, Albert Hofmann, Richard Alpert aka Ram Dass, Laura Huxley, Terence McKenna, Richard Evans Schultes, John Lilly, Nina Graboi, Ann & Sasha Shulgin, Oscar Janiger.

A portion of proceeds of art sales will go to benefit MAPS, The Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies, who have supported medical marijuana research since 1986.

The 99 High Art Collective proprietors are hopeful that their new “hybrid” gallery/collective will inspire people and heal them.  “… we believe that art and healing are inseparable,” says artist, activist and 99’s name sake, Yvonne aka 99. “Our vision is to bring healing and art together in an environment that will inspire people to reach higher levels of health, consciousness, compassion, and love. We’re doing this so people like my mother, who when diagnosed with breast cancer, realized that there was nothing that could help with her pain and nausea, nothing except medical marijuana. Now people like my Mom can have a place where they can feel good, inspired and safe.”

With everything that’s been said of this new collective, "99" promises to be the future model of the truly "Green" movement.
